How far up to the “bottom” - as in past HoJo’s up the little headwall to the base of the ravine? Yes…you will. Check out www.viewsfromthetop.com for latest posts about trail conditions in the Whites. With the storm predicted, snowshoes will also be mandatory.

If you are just going to the shelter in the bottom of Tucks you do not need crampons. If you plan to go higher than that they would be highly recommended. All trails up from there are very icy. They are in the process of getting up to 30 inches of snow today so yes, for the next few days snow shoes are the way to go. After that the trails will be packed down from use. If you plan on going farther then the floor of the ravine this is serious hiking. Be prepared and know what you are doing.
