Hi everybody. I’ve heard rumors that tyvek home wrap is sold at the kickoff. Does anyone know if this is true? Its a day before I fly to San Diego and I’m realizing Home Depot isn’t really willing to sell a 3 by 6 piece. Thanks in advance for any help.

As I have posted before, I got mine by going by a construction site to see if I could buy a small piece. They were so nice and just gave me what I wanted…so I guess I yogied it. :tongue

Lady Di is right - construction sites are good sources for a free scrap of tyvek. Another is to go to HD or Lowe’s and ask the guys at the lumber yard. Certain lumber comes wrapped in tyvek, and they throw it away when stocking. The guys at Lowe’s let me carry off a large sheet from their trash heap for free. I laid it out, found a section without tears or holes, and cut out a footprint for my tent. Good luck.

…email me your mailing address and the length you need and I’ll cut you off a piece and send it to you…no charge, call it “trail magic.”

Go to materialconcepts.com They specialize in Tyvek and sell soft tyvek which I used as a ground cover. It’s very soft, durable and cleans up like new in the washing machine.

you can wash the tyvek to remove some of that crinkle crinkle noise.
