Thinking about ordering a ULA P1 pack and was wondering if anyone has any experience using this pack. Have gotten my total pack wt. down below 30lbs. including food, fuel, water. The pack has some nice options that I like, just wanted some feedback… Thanks…

Got mine last month. Fits like a glove. Very comfortable. Make sure you can live with less than 30 lbs.

How is this different than the P-2?

I carry 30 pounds in food to the barbeque we are having at the shelter outside of town tonight. The last one was real good. Hummmmm?

Brian’s website outlines the differences between the P1 and the P2 nicely ((plus he doesn’t seem to be bothered with inane emails))

I vacillated between the P1 and the P2 – but went with the P1. The P1 is slightly smaller and requires packing support ((like creative gear packing or use of a z rest pad to add more wt. stability)).

I don’t know about anyone else…but if you give me more cubic space…by golly i’ll pack it right up!! ((and be carrying ~33 # again – yikes!!))

Hope that helps!!

ULA lists the P-1 as weighing 24 ounces on its website, but I just received a P-1 and it weighs 33 ounces. They should update the weight on their webpage.

Any additions, i.e. side pockets, top pockets, large hipbelt, etc. will add to the weight. Did you get the stripped down version or did you add pockets?

My pack came with all the items shown on the P-1 on the ULA website. Side pockets, thick hip belt, outer mesh pocket, stenum strap, etc. I really like the pack regardless of the extra 9 ounces, but I think it would help ULA’s credibility to put a note on their page that the pack as shown weighs more than stated.
