Upcoming CT hikers

Hello 2006 CT hikers. Some of the upcoming season hikers are probably getting into the planning stages of their CT hike this year. As last year, I’m offering my assistance for supply drops and shuttleing to and from trailheads as I’m available. My e-mail address is included here and so if you have any questions about where I am and what support I might be able to give, just give me a shout. I was able to help several hikers last year and I hope to be able to do the same this year. Give me a shout if you need info. ken_winchester@msn.com

Ken:
I am toying with the idea of a full thru or an extended section hike. What areas are you doing shuttles to and from and what costs are involved? Thanks for any information.

Ken,

This April (or May, depends when I get the new guidebook!), I am updating my CT planning doc. Would you mind if I added your info to the SECTION HIKING section?

I posted this on another thread, but it probably belongs herre:

Free shuttle from Mineral Sta. to Waterton Canyon
Anybody needing transportation from Mineral Station (The Southern terminus for the Denver RTD and the Light Rail system)to Waterton Canyon is welcome to call me for a ride to the trailhead. I live less than two miles from the trailhead, and it is not out of my way at all. Besides, it’s free! My only request is that you call me at least 5 days in advance so that we can confirm a pickup time. I’ve done this for dozens of hikers, and would be glad to shuttle you too. Email me, and I will gladly give you my cell phone number to confirm plans. Hike on, TrailGuy

Looks like the lower Colorado Trail has received less than normal precipitation. I’m planning a late summer, early fall hike, late Aug - mid September.

Does this mean I’ll have to walk further for water in the San Juans, or will water just not be available at all?

Good question, H2O. I suggest you dehydrate your water in town or at reliable streams. It’ll make your pack a lot lighter and you won’t have to go to bed thirsty.
