Urgent... - Pacific Crest Trail

this might sound a little weird… but we have to get a recommandation for a 3 days hike around LA starting tomorrow.

It seemed like it’s all desert around here…too hot. we need a place we can arrive and come back by bus and that we can find water easily. we thought about the pct part betweet cajon pass and hwy 173 above mojave river forks reservoir (part C) from north to south but we don’t know how to get there by bus. do many people hike there? we’re a couple and don’t want to camp alone at night.

explanation: we are tourists in CA and during these days we planned to hike for 4 days in yosmite but last night we missed the bus… we have a schedule planned for the month we’re here and during the next 4 days we planned to go hiking… we don’t like city tours so we have nothing else to do!! gotta hike  already missed 3 days of doing nothing.

It would be really really nice and helpful if someone could recommand a popular 3 days hike in the area and mention where to sleep and take water. (I have the pct trail from the mexican border to tuolumne meadows book, do i need additional maps?).

Thnk you very very much …

I would think any hiking near the desert in CA would be unbearably hot during August. When thru-hikers walk thru this area in mid-May it’s ungodly hot.

Sorry to hear you missed the bus, the Sierra’s are the place to hike this time of year.

If I were to attempt a hike in your area the trail near Wrightwood and Mt. Baden Powell would probably be good. No idea how to get out there via public transp.

There is some nice hiking in the Santa Monica Mtns much closer to LA
