Ursack - The Colorado Trail

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the Ursack? I am very short and sometimes hard for me to hang a bear bag. I have done seg 1-3 and want to move on to a few more. It is kind of pricey so was wondering due to the bear problems we are having this year if this would be a good investment or money out the window?

I just returned from JMT and used it & loved it, only 8 oz. The new Specta 29 bag, with seam seal added has never had a failure (check the videos on the URSACK website). There is no need to hang the URSACK, there has never been an instnce of a Bear walking off with one. URSACK recommends using the tie rope that comes with the bag to wrap arond a low branch or rock and tie with a figure 8. That’s what I did, just tied it on at about chest level, very easy. I got my bag from Laguna Mt Sports, they have a very fastpacker friendly inventory, 619-473-0450. If you get into the NP requirements, the only place the canister is required is Yosemite, Dusy Basin, Rock Creek, & Rea Lakes. Thru’s are allowed to use the Bear boxes in Rock Creek, Rae Lakes, & Yosemite, & Dusy Basin is off trail unless you resupply using Bishop Pass.
