For future refence, can anyone recommend a place that carries a lot of used or clearance hiking itmes for the no/low bdget minded person who has to make due? I keep an eye open at salvation army and goodwill stores in my area where sometimes if you time it right, you can find huge bargains on used items. I’m looking in the western northcarolina, eastern tennessee area. Any clearing houses, goodwills, hiker consignment stores, etc, etc???

I’m kinda tapped right now, and there are a couple of things i’m looking for to do some section hikes next year…

Keep your eyes on posts right here, alot of people will sell off used or unwanted gear in postings for great prices.

Where do you live Dee? Many places have used equipment stores. Heck, even when I was in Rhode Island (not exactly an outdoor Mecca), there was a used equipment store.

charlotte area west.mummy bag, poles, headlamp, pot set mostly.

the biggest thing i’m looking for is a inexpensive, yet roomy 20degree bag.

The inventory of each store is different. The one here in Boulder, for example, has lots of ski equipment. Give them a call, see what they have to say about their inventory.

As for an inexpensive 20 degree bag, try the Cammpmor down bag for $110. www.campmor.com

I had a bad time at Play It Again. They ripped me off and someone ran over my dog when i tied him up outside. I asked for my money back and they kicked me out of the store.

Hey, BD, LL Bean has some $100 down bags also. And there’s always ebay. Cool, check this;

You might also want to check out craigslist, Doesn’t look like it’s caught on much in your area, but it might come in handy.
