With all of the hikers stopping short of a thruhike, how can find some quality used hiking gear.

You know you can make a lot of your gear. Its quite common to see a homemade coke can stove, tarp, camping quilt on the trail. I often thought of doing a thru hike with just homemade gear, but I really like my sleeping bag.

Try Geartrade.com, Craigslist, and Ebay, and the gear deals forum on this site.

I just posted a 88 fill MH bag in gear deals if you need a good bag.

I have bought almost all of my gear, including a new Western Mountaineering Bag on BackpackingLight.com Gear Swap Forum. There is quite a bit of traffic, plenty of good deals.

Heck, just hang out on the approach trail during March. You could open an outfitters.
