On all three of my AT Thru-Hikes i used a Synthetic Bag such as Mountain hardwear, I am planning a PCT thru-Hike in 2015 and i think a down bag would do better than Synthetic so it's down to these two bags Valandre or Feathered Friends does any body have any experience with either one of these bags or both if so what are the Pro's and Con's, the only thing i Know about Valandre is their made totally in france.

I've used Montbell, Western Mountaineering, Marmot, Sierra Designs, and Feathered Friends over the years. Feathered Friends is my favorite, with the next closest being Montbell & WM. FF stays true to it's temp rating, and mine had a few features (more rugged zipper, snap, etc) that made it hold up a little longer. Hikers all have their favorites. My vote if using a bag, is FF. On a side note, I also really like the Montbell stretch bag. I am a side sleeper that thrashes around a lot, and I like the extra room.

Okay i will check out WM, Feathered Friends, i don't know about Valandre, the only concern i have is that their Down bags and i have always used synthetic, but i was told that down bags work better on the PCT than Synthetic is this true.

I love my WM bag. Got stuck in a shelter on AT in my 15 degree Badger bag. Temp was 10 at 8:00 pm with 25 mph winds and snow. Was dieing to get to shelter and when there realized I had left my sleeping pad. I was warm down to probably 0 degrees in a 15 degree bag. (kept puffy jacket on though). The loft made up for the pad i guess....check them out anyway.

Okay I have done a week of hiking in the GSMNP using a wm bag but i have choosen the Feathered Friends Kestrul UL 30, I just didn't like the WM bag, but on another note the weather in the GSMNP is terrific a little wet but Awesome, it stayed in the Mid 50's to low 60's the entire time got a little nippy at night but that is to be expected.:cheers
