Yah, you’ll find Verizon reception when ever above 5,000 ft :-), places I’ve had excellent reception: Siler’s, Clingman’s, Guyot, Cosby and south into Davenport Gap.

Last year my wife and I hiked from Fontana to Newfound Gap and had Verizon as our cell phone carrier. It was spotty, but we were able to make contact with home at least twice a day while hiking. We were not able to make any connection in Newfound Gap.
