what’s a good multi-vitamin to take. I have used cvs spectravite or something like that before. I’d like to hear how folks stash their vitamins to keep them fresh as well.

To tell you the truth, I don’t know which vitamans I took. My mom sent me a 10 day’s supply of multi vitamans and a couple hand fulls of Almonds every week. This way, if I lost my vitamans, or something horrid happend to them, I would only be out for a week max. I enjoy eating almonds, and plentiful vit.E also. I would redomend carrying only a week or two’s supply rather than 50 pills at a time.

Sweep, buy what you said you’re drying and taking you have all the rocks you need. We don’t bother with them and with some added items like PowerBars and veggies/fresh from town and what we will get at the AYCE’s we’ll be fine. Like us, you don’t rely on Poptarts and Ramen alone. Hit all the food groups as often as you can as you will be fine. We also use a product called Cytomax, a sports drink that has several hundred blood chems and love the stuff before during and after hikes. We joke about eating better on the trail than at home which is true. Look for Cytomax Orange at a local health food store. Or it’s all over then net. Way better than Gatorade. It’s one of those food tools like Twinkies.

I looked for a website, couldn’t find anything. Could you past it on? Thanks. hamockhngr

Hi Sue, how are them plannes coming? Looks like with the late snow pack you should get to enjoy the mud. :>) You’re looking for Cytomax, not Cytromax. www.cytosport.com is the home page but also the most expensive. Enter cytomax on www.dogpile.com master search engine and you will get dozens of stores with the stuff. A large can, 4# I think, is cheapest at $29. Make almost 55gals. Mix to your sweet tooth. We’vev used it for years and have found nothing better for stopping lactic acid burn, energy loss and recovery. It uses potasium as a salt so it leaves a slight bitter taste some folks don’t like but after a while you crave it. It actually helps you drink more because it goes down so smooth. Ask around your local health and fitness stores, they should have the small can you can try. Makes GatorAid look like CoolAid! Let me know if you need more details. Comes in orange, apple, fruit punch and something else I forget what. Orange is the bestest.

I agree with Bramble. Extra weight that can be ditched(I should talk!). Eat well and often. Powerbars or other bars will do the trick and provide calories too.
