I’m thinking of finishing VT (I’m 20 miles past Killington, going north) and starting NH next week. Am I crazy? What’s it like out there after Irene?

Both are very wet right now. Other then the possibility of some blow downs and washed out trail/bridges you should have no problems. The smaller streams are quickly going down and crossing should be no problem. Some of the roads in NH are still closed due to wash outs but there are ways around the bad areas. Your resupply towns in NH should be fine. If you are planning to resupply between the Franconia Range and the Presidentials be aware that route 302 has a section closed due to a wash out. Other then that the weather has been pretty good since the flooding so things are improving daily.

The bridge over White River in W. Hartford,VT, is, I think, still passable to foot traffic. The general store is reported in the local newspaper to be closed due to flood damage–I can’t drive down there from my location to verify.
