Wanderlust Tents

Does anyone know if Kurt Russell is still in business? His website looks like he is but the phone has disconnected. I’ve sent him e-mails but have had no luck getting in touch with him. I would love to have one of his tents but don’t want to send money if he is no longer in business.

What happened to Kurt is a bit of a mystery. I know of no confirmed sighting in about 18 months. I would not send money to him. There are a number of reports of folks who paid and got nothing in return. In my last conversation with him he offered me a huge discount to upgrade to a larger tent if I commitment within 7 days. I chose not to and seem to have made the right choice.

Hi Dutch Uncle,

I’m responsible for Kurt’s website and haven’t heard from him in over two years. His tent was great to have on my thruhike, but Kurt himself seems to have disappeared. I’ll have to take the site down one of these days - I promised him years of hosting in exchange for the tent…

Hey Squish,

I spoke with Kurt on the phone in 2002 when my feet were healing from my thru hike. I almost ordered one but decided to wait until the fall of that year and I haven’t been able to reach him since.I’m giving up on his tent and looking at other options. If things work out I’m doing another thru in 2007. I started with a Bibler in 2002 but it was tooooo heavy. Bought a cheap Sierra Design at Neel’s Gap and used it for the rest of my hike. Didn’t have much room and did get wet from a few of the storms. Thanks for the update Squish and Footnotes. Maybe we’ll cross paths out there.

It’s a shame Kurt seems to have dissapeared. I’ve always liked the NomadLite and, if not tarping, still use mine to this day.

When I eventually replace it I intend on going with Six Moons Designs Lunar Solo.

Hey Sly,

Thanks for the heads up on Six Moons Designs. I like what I’m reading. Do you know anyone that has one? I hate to buy something without seeing it first but I may take a chance on this one. I like the backpacks from them also. This tent appears to be alot like Kurt’s anyway.
