Warner Springs Resort

Someone mentioned in another thread that the Native Americans were buying back the resort. Is this just a rumor or fact? I know a big casino there won’t be a draw for hikers but a small grocery store or quickie-mart would be a plus.

a casino would most likely mean an all you can eat buffet. that coupled with a grocery store would make that the most (or only) hiker paradise until idlewylde.

They are working on buying the property. They “say” they have no plans for a casino there.

They have a shuttle on the weekends to a Casino that they own a few miles away. And yes the tribe bought Warner Springs back last year. The Gas Station there is totally adequate for a resupply too. They have everything a non picky/ special diet hiker could want. I resupplied there three times already. Last year the only thing I mailed there was a bottle of excellent Tequila. They sell beer at the convienece store, but sadly nothing stronger. It’s nice to resupply as you go I found. Little stores like this will always have the essentials.

I got the info on the tribe owing the Ranch last year when I was there, an employee said they bought it with the money they earned from their casino which I believe is 7 miles away.

Does that casino have an AYCE?

A casino in a little town like Warner Springs, so close to the trail, would be a lousy deal, at least when we think beyond our stomachs for a moment. Granted, that can be hard to do, maybe impossible with a backpack on, but the reasons should be obvious with due reflection while comfortably set in front of the computer screen at home.
