hello there!

Do you think i need to carry my heavy Katadyn hiker pro filter for my summer Colorado hike?

Do i have to deal with muddy water on this section?

I was planning to carry a very light filter (2 oz) from Aquamira…with no pump.

thanks

You should do fine with just occasional Aquamira use in CO, depending on your route, of course. One set ought to be plenty. Where there is water, it’s generally good and clean. There are a few long dry stretches, easily identified and planned for, like the long road walk at Rabbit Ears/Muddy Passes. Lots of snow this year, so everything should be running well. (Watch Postholer’s website.) Have a great hike–the San Juans are awesome.

Lots of beavers in CO. Be more careful than I was!:girl

Besides treating water, be sure to wash your hands. Bring some hand sanitizer (e.g. Purrel) and not let people stick their hands into your trail mix.

The San Juans are probably the best range in Colorado!
