Last time I hiked in Nanathala, there was a spring on top of Stratton Bald, to your left just as you entered the meadow. Is it still running this year?

On October 5 Wine Spring (1.9 miles South of Wayah Bald) was just a puddle. The “piped spring” described in the A.T. guidebook 2.4 miles south of Wayah Bald (where trail crosses Forest Service Road 69) was bone dry.

I am keying this from Burningtown Gap where there is plenty of water as always. It is about 1/2 mile south of the gap and looks like a pipe from a spring. It is really a creek, tho, so treat. Fill 'er up!

I was there this past weekend and the spring was flowing near the shelter…not a torrent of water, but enough to filter and refill supplies.
