I’m looking at a section hike next week, but I’d really like to find out about the condition of the springs up on these two sections. Has anyone been up there recently or know the maintainer(s) of the shelters?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I got sandbagged last year on the section just south by dried-up water sources after Wildcat shelter and I’d rather not repeat that.

Strategic, first thanks for the train advice, I took a nice hike between Bear Mtn. and Pawling a few days ago. This is not sections 9 and 10, right? For what it’s worth this section was very dry, no streams running in Fahnestock Park (there are 2 nice streams there in spring and fall), no water at the pump at Denning Road. RPH was fine though. I was carrying a lot of water. On the other hand we’re getting lots of rain right now…

Thanks for the update Brian, it helps a lot. I’m glad the transit advice worked out. I’ve though about trying to organize an AT transit database (sort of like the shelter or parking databases that exist now) as well as a water source one. The problem is hosting, of course, since I don’t have the resources. Still, it’s an idea.
