Water Shoes - Pacific Crest Trail

To date we have only had to wade knee-high/slow moving (mt stream) water. We’ve done it in light trail shoes (long drying time) and barefoot (bad footing & all books say no-no). We will be facing rougher crossings in our next trip & are fretting over Tevas, Chacos, rafting booties (& every extra ounce). Your thoughts on a 2nd pair of shoes for stream crossings (Pacific Northwest)?

I met a guy recently that had done some kayaking expedition trips and he swore by a water shoe made by 5.10. 5.10 normally makes rock climbing shoes, but these were more of a sandal with sticky rock climbing rubber soles. They wore them when portaging unrunnable rapids and said were very good about not slipping and providing firm footing in wet conditions.
