Water sources - The Colorado Trail

Hikers coming through section 18 (Highway 118 to Saguache Park road) later on might run into problems with water. This is one of those sections in the guidebook with a little empty cup for the water availability. Be advised that the first creeks listed in the databook are TOTALLY cattle polluted. Use whatever purifying methods you have with vengeance. Personally, I wouldn’t and didn’t touch these with a ten foot hiking staff. Los creek is mostly about dried up, and Monchego creek is just about all dried up. Archuleta creek is dry as a bone. Razor creek in the section before hasn’t long either. It has apparently been pretty hot and dry in these parts lately.

Good morning all! Can any of you give me information on water purifiers/filters. What is the best to use on an AT Thru-Hike and best brands etc. What is the difference between a water filter/purifier. Thanks for the info.

Sorry! I just realized that I am in the wrong Forum. But, if you do have info on water purifiers/filters please pass it on. Thanks!
