Water - The Colorado Trail

I have seen a few posts concerning amt of water people are packing-one person mentioned 6 liters( Iwasnt sure if that was per person or for 2 people)-And I am just doing a final check:
Assuming that we are able to go about 15 mile a day pace on average, do you think 3.5-4 liters/ person capacity would be adequate? Thats what we are planning on- We can always pick up plastic bottles after we get out there…
Just getting a feel for what everyone else is planning on.

I am planning to keep a journal of all of the water supplies and submit it to the foundatation so that they can include it when they update the data book. I figure if there is water there this year, then its a deffinite source. When I talked to Suzanne at the foundation, she was excited about any information people can give about the trail so that they can have info to give others.

3.5-4 liters of capacity will be enough. Just remember to plan well if you plan on camping without water. For example it may help to cook dinner near, or before your water source, then fill up on water and go to camp.

i have a question for anyone who has used aqua mira. if i remember correctly, the manufacturer’s intent is to use the product on water that has already been filtered, and if used without a filter, to treat at double strength (twice the recommended dose). is this true? for those of you that use aqua mira without a filter, what has been your experience? normal dosage, or double strength? thanks!
