Water treatment in SoCal

Can anyone give me a general rule (or specific advice) on the need to treat water in SoCal? I’m thinking mainly of the faucets at campgrounds (Lake Morena, Boulder Oaks etc.) and the water drums like the one at Rodriguez Spur Truck Trail. I generally always treat water from streams/springs.

You will get different opinions. I personally would treat all water except from municipal faucets. Faucets in campgrounds usually don’t need treating, unless there is a sign saying to treat. (This happens when they can’t pass water testing requirements. It could be critters, it could be contamination.) Water tanks like Rodriguez I would always treat. Critters can get in them, and unfortunately some genius washed their socks in that tank a couple years ago.
