I found this and am amazed it took me this long to find it. It is a easier way to get weather for start day.

Cool! I wonder if the forecasts of weather for the AT are available all along the way. And is the forecast of the nearby towns indicative of what is up on the ridge tops? Can weather be accessed by something other than a radio while walking the trail?

The fine print says this data is for Gainesville GA even though the header says “Springer Mountain.” Gainesville is quite a ways SE of Springer and sits on the east edge of a large man-made lake (Lake Lanier). The weather reporting takes place at Gainesville Airport (KGVL) just south of town.
Summary: expect Springer to be possibly 10F colder than KGVL and a good bit more windy if it is a windy day.
