Weather in the Smokies?

How is the weather in the GSNP before Memorial Day?I would like to section hike it but would prefer to miss the larger crowds.What do you guys think would be the earliest I could do the Smokies without being drowned or frozen?( I am allergic to freezer burn)

Great Smokies usually decent at that time. Although GSMP is the most visited, not too many people wander from the parking areas. Of course we get snow that late sometimes, but more likely to have an afternoon thunderstorm.

You won’t drown anywhere on the AT in the Smokies (assuming you’re talking AT). Side trails are a different story, but no major water at all along the AT in the Smokies.
