Weather radio - Appalachian Trail

Hey everyone! Time is almost here. I’m heading out on the 15th. Still debating whether I should take a weather radio. If I do, I will be taking the Sangean DT300VW (3 oz). http://www.sangean.com/pocket.html
What do you veterans suggest? Do I really need one?

And also, thank you everyone for answering all my questions on this forum for the past year. It really helped during my preparation, and I am extremely thankful

I brought one with me on a solo hike last Feb in Ga/NC and was glad I did. It helped determine where I stayed that night. One day had a severe weather warning, temp dropping from 61 degrees to 19 degrees with snow within 6-7 hours. Glad I knew it was coming!

My trip has been posponed for another year, but I have been wondering how effective a radio, telephone, or other electronic device that receives information would react in the mountains. Can someone help me with this? Thanks.
