Family friend is suspected to have west niles! He has been sick for a week then sent home from the hospital, that night his temp reached 105 D. Back in the hospital w/ full symptoms of the virus. We will know for shure some time this afternoon!

Are we suposed to use bug dope evry day even leaving our homes?? Its getting scary even thow its as uncommin as getting hit by lighhtning.
I have reported dead black birds, bats, red birds and yesterday the neighbor told me he has had ten birds dead in the yard since last month! Its to close for comfort!

I’m still more likely to be run over by one of our finest drunk Ohio natives than skeeter bites…although I got whapped by something large working thirty feet up a ladder. Nice welt and ten skeeter bites.

Is positive that I had West Nile. She said that hospitals try not to report all the cases unless the menigitis has set in. – The mega doses of IV antibiotics that I was placed on immediately may have saved my life. My doctor feels that if I had continued to hike, or had just set up camp and tried to ride out the sickness for just a few days more I could very well have progressed to the meningitis stag of the disease and that is when it gets deadly. So, I wound up with West Nile and Lyme’s this year… what is waiting for me next season. Let’s see a new virus carried by black flies!! (I heard Rambunny got Lyme as well.) Scary, but not enough to keep me off the trail!! Sue/HH

Another person has or had West Niles, he died yesterday 79 yrs old. Know this is the second case in less than a week in the same city 3 miles apart and I live in the DEAD CENTER of both!
I know its nothing to worry about but Im worried about my kids. I fell in and bought soem Cutter skeeter killer for the yard.
