I know there will be a lot of different opinions on this topic but I want to see what they are. What is the best/light weight option for a 1-2 person tarp?

You should look into the OES line of tarps. They are a little bit heavier than most light weight tarps, but are built better and, I think, can withstand more abuse. They also have SpinnTex tarps for those who need a lighter option.

If your looking to save weight and don’t mind paying the higher price, the tarps at Zpacks are the lightest option around - but I don’t have much experience with Cuben Fiber tarps. They have a 8X10 at 5.2 oz. They have size options that go down to 5X8 for 3.2 oz (but that might be a little small for two people).

Gossamer Gear Spinntwin is excellent...can get in two fabric types, one lighter than the other but pricer (and is noisier due to crinkling it makes). I use the lighter one and enjoy it. Very large and light, packs down small.
I’ve also used the bomber proof, but heavier Granite Gear White Lightening–very easy to set up and tension.
