Whats the best time of year to section hike the Roan Highlands? Like nice weather, clear skies, good cool temps?

Since Im not doing a thru-hike, I have the luxury of choosing what time of year to hit the trail in this area.

Ive kept most of my GA hikes to October or November because the weather is the best during those months on the GA AT.

Im not a sissy, I dont mind flooding rain, snow etc…but I do like to take pictures…and LOTS of them. I hate hiking to the top of a mountain, and it being boxed in and ending up with pictures that just show a tree with a blank grey sky. I wanna see the scenery and the views.

Fall and winter feature the lowest humidity of the year, and as a result, the views are best. In the muggy spring & summer the moisture in the air reduces visibility considerably.

That’s my vote.
