I was wondering when the new detailed guides come out for the AT each year. Do I need to wait until January to buy 2003 editions or will 2002 editions be ok? Do they change much from year to year?

I was wondering the same thing HHC. I plan on starting late February 2004, will the new guides (ATC or Wingfoot’s) be out in time, or use older guidebook?

I’ve found The Companion and The Data Book in northern NH bookstores in Februrary but I think you’d find them at the ATC’s website store a month earlier
I don’t know when Wingfoot puts out his new editions.
The changes to the town guides are important to get so you don’t make plans based on service that isn’t offered anymore and so you don’t miss something new that you might really need. The Data book changes are sometimes harder to find from year to year; a big relocation will make a big difference but there aren’t always major relos. This year there was a big relocation in Tennesee near US 19E that was opened and it wasn’t measured accuratly so next year’s Data Book will be important.
