Where do I start the JMT?

Hi, my name is Guy Reshef,I’am from israel.
In sep’ 20 I’am going to the JMT. The JMT is 230 miles and it will take me about 26 days. My plan is to be on the treil 25 days more. Can you plese help me to plan the rest of my trip.
-names of towns that I can start from them???

-I was thinking to start from Tahu lake. what do you think about it???

There are guidebooks for the JMT with maps. I strongly suggest that you purchase one. The trail starts at either Yosemite Village (north end) or Lone Pine (south end, below Mt. Whitney). If you start at Tahoe, you would add another 200 or so miles to your trip. Theis would be via the Tahoe Yosemite Trail which links to the JMT in Yosemite at Tuolemne Meadows or the Pacific Crest Trail which parallels the TYT.

Considering how little you know, let me advise that you don’t plan on doing the entire JMT. Late september in the sierra might bring snow. Early october to late october heavy snow is all the more likely. It’s a dangerous time to be in the sierra if you don’t know what youre doing.
