I am trying to stay at or around the 10lb mark for my pack, bag, tent and sleeping pad. I am hoping to find a bag that weighs around 2lbs?

Right now I am thiking of using:
PACK–MountainSmith Auspex–3.7lbs
–Osprey Aether 60------3.6lbs

TENT–Kelty Dart 2—2.14lbs
–The North Face Canyonlands—3.7lbs

PADS–Therm-a-rest Ultralite 3/4—1.2lbs

BAGS–???

Not a very good clue on the bag. I am almost certain on the Mountainsmith Auspex and leaning towards the Kelty Dart 2, until I hear bad things about both

I would go with the Osprey… nothing against the Mountainsmith really, I’ve just been highly pleased with Osprey’s products. The dart is fine I suppose, as long as you don’t mind not being able to sit up a whole lot. I would go with something like the new Mounatin Hardwear Waypoint tent or something like it… more space without more weight! The bag thing, you’ll have to go with down to get it a weight like that, I suggest a Marmot bag(possibly the Helium- 15F 2 lbs $299). Quality bags, and they don’t break that bank quite as bad as some others.
As far as sleeping pads go, I prefer a Zrest myself… that’d save you some weight, but some people aren’t into the closed cell pads.

i have a Golite Breeze that i plan to use on the CT this summer. last year i used a modified North Face Prophet pack that i got to weigh 2lbs. 12 oz. aand felt it was just too much. my base weight w/o food, H20, and fuel is under 10 lbs. so it shouldn’t be a problem, but if you plan to carry much more than 20lbs. forget it.

I would highly siggest the North Face Prophet packs. they rock. they’re fairly light for their vulome (4lbs, 4200 cu. in. and are easily modified.)

good luck!

Marmot Helium or WM Versalite both a very conserative 15 degree bag…will regret any other! You may want to reconsider the tent and go toward the Nomad-lite 1lb-11oz from Wanderlust and if you are comfortable on the thermorest 3/4 ultralite, you can save 7 ounces with 75% of the comfort with a 3/4 z-rest which could be the support for your 1lb. G-4pack.
