I'm joining a thru-hiker friend for about 30 days this season. My pal is hiking south to north, starting early March. What section should I hike with my pal? I am an intermediate hiker who likes nice weather and great vistas.

Hi firstimer. A suggestion...If your friend hits trail days in Virginia in May, you may want to start there. While I have not attended this event, from what I hear you could learn a lot. Heading north is W. VA and MD which I found not to be too difficult at all.
