Which sleeping bag?

I’m planning a southbound thru-hike of the JMT starting around Aug. 1 I’m an experienced backpacker who thru-hiked the AT in 2007. I have two good bags, a 35 degree and a 15, both North Face. Can I get by with the 35 degree, and save about a half pound? Thanks.

You should be fine with the 35 degree bag. I hiked the JMT southbound in mid-September with a 30 degree bag and that was ok, though I did wear baselayers (Capilene 4), fleece socks and a hat at night, and I’m a cold sleeper.
