When I use it I leave the pump on the bottle, the bottle outside the pack and inside a ziploc, upright. Put the stove inside your pot or in its bag it came with.
One thing these do is leave fuel in the hose after you unhook it. Unless you do this; just before your food is done, HOLD the hose and turn the fuel bottle on it 180* so the bottle is now “upsidedown”. This puts the fuel pick up in the top of the bottle now and the air inside will force the fuel out. When the flame dies, turn it off and unhook it. No dribble. And the bottle is depressurized also. Fewer chances of leaks.
