Whitney Portal to LA

Getting from the LA area to Yosemite seems pretty convenient through Amtrak. Returning to the LA area from Whitney Portal doesn’t seem as easy. I’m finding random buses and finally the Metrolink… Has anyone found a simpler route? Or found this patchwork of transportation successful in the past?

Either hitch, or rent a car.

I paid a friend from Hollywood to come pick me up from There.

That is a tough place to get out of for sure.
The greyhound bus system to Modesto, or Merced and the Yosemite Bus to the park puts you off right at the Trail Head pretty much.
Dont forget to stop and get yourself a $12 pizza and a $5 beer before you go up the falls!

have fun, that trail rocks!
And Vermillion is worth the stop…believe me.

Hitching could be the easiest option.

The only public transport out of Lone Pine southbound is a bus to Ridgecrest on Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings. Then its a combination of other buses or car hire.

Check Inyo/Mono transit for the bus schedule out of Lone Pine. Kern County Transit can get you out of Ridgecrest, heading to Lancaster. In Lancaster you finally reach the Metrolink! (Pay attention to signs about fees changing according to the time of day. If you buy the ticket before the stated time, you pay the higher fare, even though it’s the same train.)

Now can anyone advise me on getting to Ebbets Pass and from Donner Pass? There will be 4-6 of us.
