Why is it? - Appalachian Trail

Why is it that today; a balmy day by december standards in western new york, no wind; temp in high 30s or low 40s even; sun, no snow; i hated every minute being outside hanging christmas freaking lights and covering windows with plastic?
why is it? when; transplant me to anywhere on the AT; drop the temp another 20 degrees; sleet; cold; wet gear; wet boots; Shelters jammed with people and rodents; a semi warm meal at best; and I would be having the time of my life?
Why is it that life just doesn’t seem to make sense. Here’s to missing the trail; all that are currently on it; and all I will meet on it soon.

I just got back from a weekend spent on Dartmoor (one of Englands National Parks). I totally empathise with the above. It was cold, there was drizzle, the windchill was -6 degrees C, gust’s of wind seemed to penetrate every gap in my clothing, but… I was running around on a rock outcrop laughing and having a whale of a time. Back here in London they can keep their cold weather, roll it up and smoke it !!

See you in the woods A.T 04 !!
