Seems that Wingfoot is moving on and will no longer by updating the Thru Hiker’s Handbook. Trailplace.com is closed.

Yes, he certainly has helped many thousands of hikers. Thanks to him.
Any idea what will happen to the contents of the Thru Hiker’s Handbook? Will someone else takes up its maintenance? Or perhaps its contents will be released into the public domain? In the 2006 version, the one I have, it says that all contents are copyright of Dan Bruce, of course.

I agree , I hope he is leaving the trail community on a positve note. He has provide an invaluable service to us over the years.

its too bad wingfoot has to shutdown trailplace. i spent most of the early 07 season on his website chating and exchanging advice and opinions with he and his following. their were several people along with wingfoot that i exchanged good words with on the different topics that would arise. wingfoot definitly had his way about things whether we agree or disagree with his principles. we all need to look back and realize that he was in it for the trail not the glory of being the frontrunner for info about the true ways of the trail a and how to prserve it. i would like to thank all the members of the former trailplace for the good times and most of all thanks to wingfoot for a job well done…peace to all, nitewalker

Amen… He helped me when I was so green I didn’t know the first thing about planing a Hike. He will be missed.
