This might be old news, but I heard yesterday from a local hostel owner that AWOL is taking over Wingfoot’s book and will be updating and putting it out.

I will not be taking over the Thru-Hiker’s Handbook, though it is easy to understand the confusion. I’ve decided to work on another handbook, that will be ready very early in 2008. I have called a number of hostel owners along the AT to get updated information. The new book has innovative new features; you can get a look at www.whiteblazepages.net

Hey, can you add a symbol for micro brews if available in/near town and maybe give ratings or brands? 1-5 clinkers, maybe? Some of us do enjoy trying new and exoctic local flavuz. Excluding the southern states of course. There’s also the cool t-shirts to send home. Maybe a page or two in the back and some input from hikers and we/you’d have a pretty cool list. I’d take on the chore myself as I’m sure (enter delicious eye roll) it would be a tough challenge to track down tasty beverages but I’m stuck home for the five years. Your WBP?, nice abbr.,pages look great so far, thanks.

Hey AWOL, If your new Hiker’s Handbook is as good as your book ‘AWOL On The Appalachian Trail’ I want one.
