Hey all. I own a copy of Wingfoot's 2007 guidebook. Has there been any big changes to the AT since its publication? What does everyone think about using the 2007 guidebook for a 2008 thru-hike. Thanks. Happy Trails. PEACE.

									Peace of Cake,

I hiked with his guidebook last year and it worked great. There were only two or three times along the whole trail that he was wrong. I can’t speak to what may have changed but I think probably not much in a year.

I heard that Wingfoot is giving up his web site and will no longer be updating his guidebooks. Does anyone know if this is true and wether he has found others to keep the guide going?

I decided not to be so lazy and looked it up myself.

Here’s the blurb from his web site:

I’m leaving you in good hands here, since I’m turning things over to a dedicated 2,000 Miler, Bob McCaw, who is assuming the responsibilities of updating and publishing The Thru-hiker’s Handbook and developing a new Trailplace.com website

Glad to hear the tradition will continue.

Bob did do the 2008 one.I already have mine. Not to much has changed, however I haven't had time to go thru the whole thing.I will say when we had our 11 y.o. grandson out on the AT in Oct/Nov.07 at PenMar in PA.NO More Pizza delivery. To say he was disappointed would be an under statement!:)

Another option is brand new this year. Offers some interesting new layout features. I have one, have not hiked with it yet, but it appears well organized and convenient. Also has perforated pages, so you only need to take what you need. Profile maps incorporated on same page as trail description (watermark). Just a bit bigger than the Data Book. Check it out.
