Which do you think is true?

The two statements by WF are not mutually exclusive. You can be restricted from posting, but permited to view the forums and other content.

Jeff - I was the first one to ever be banned from Trailplace - and the second - and the third. Although the third time, I was in good company. Five of us were banned at the same time and at least three of us said “Thank God” and got on with our lives. After that, he got into word filters - and eventually (after a couple people mentioned my name in their journals) my name became one of the “words” that was banned - even in peoples journals. Interesting ---- :lol
I recently heard a rumor that he claims a Trailplace membership of something over 4000 hikers. It occurred to me that if anyone bothered to check they might well find my name still on his membership list - even though I’ve been banned from any participation at all on TP for over 7 years. I’ll even bet that Solar Bear, Bear Bells and Pittsburgh are still “members” too. That would explain how he maintains such a large “membership” now, wouldn’t it?

I was banned from the control freaks site for politely (and I emphasize politely) disagreeing with him on some points regarding trail magic. I noticed he deleted my posting that disagreed with him and when I posted a message questioning that, he replied that “views that contradict the view of this websites administrator will not be permitted to be posted on this website.” I pointed out that a forum was supposed to be a place to permit the free exchange of ideas and information and that people should visit trailforums (which showed up as ***********.com) where they dont censor you. That is when he deleted me.
Also, a side note to anyone considering his offer to be his companion (he specified male companion) to hike and gather info for his updated book. I heard from a number of people that this companion is expected to be his lover also.
