Manfire:Agree with Canby,Svea 123 is a great stove for winter hiking.I owned one for 25 years,it never gave any trouble.I don’t do much winter hiking anymore but have my 123 on the mantel, ready to go if I need it. Peace.:pimp

You might want to look at the Coleman (yes, Coleman!) Exponent Extreme, Expert and Fyrestorm stoves… the Extreme and Expert use the proprietary Coleman PowerMax fuel OR “standard” butane/propane canister fuels (with available adapter)… the Fyrestorm is set up to use the “standard” canister, and can also be used with “white gas”, if desired. The big difference with the Coleman stoves is that they feed the LIQUID from the container rather than the vapors/gas, and are thus not subject to the separation of the fuel mixture (due to their different vapor pressures). The stoves burn HOT and reliably at just about any temperature (or altitude!) that you can stand. And you don’t have to mess with white gas, fuel bottles and pumps… no muss, no fuss, no clogs!
