Winter Trip - Appalachian Trail

What do you think about an early March backpacking trip on an NC section of the AT? I have a week of for spring break and don't want to waste it. I'm not even sure if some sections are even open around then. From what I can tell the weather wont be horribly cold but since I live in NC I can always just cancel if it looks like it will be too cold. Would I be the only idiot out or would there be others?

									Fergy,

From reading the journals on this site, I know several people have already started the AT. As far as I know, only Baxter Park in Maine may prohibit hikers from hiking due to weather. The rest of the AT is open unless something beside weather may close a section such as fire, or no camping in areas due to heavy bear activity, etc.
