i will be flying in to denver at 10:00am on thursday and will have that whole day and up until 11:00am on friday. so i could do an overnight or a good day hike that might even include a fourteener. are there any takers. i should have a rental car so i will be able to drive or if someone lives there and knows the area i would let you drive. i know this is short notice but i didnt find out until recently. i hiked the AT in 2001 and the PCT last summer. i will buy the drinks. let me know asap and i will get packed up. oh and if there is someone interested in hiking one of those long trails i mentioned i can give some tips. hope to hear from someone soon.

I would not plan on hiking a 14er this time of the year. It is winter mountaineering in most of the 14ers. Bierstadt and Quandry are snowshoe walk-ups, but unless you are used to elevation and winter hiking at altitude, I would not suggest it.

If you are looking for hiking (as opposed to winter skiing/snowshoeing), Golden Gate Canyon Park in nearby Golden, CO should be mainly snowfree with great views of the divide. The very first wildflowers should just about be poking out, too.

I’d join you, but that work thing gets in the way.
