I saw on the ATC site that approximately 31 miles of the AT was hit by fire, from the northern edge of Georgia, into North Carolina, but that was during the fires.
Im wondering if it extended that length, or if it sounds about right. I am planning on my through this year, and wanted to know.

AT. was closed from bly gap north into NC during fires. If I’m not exact forgive me, I was busy monitoring the cohutta rough ridge fire at same time. It was the larger fire in ga and it was approx 30k acres inside wilderness area. I don’t think fire on the AT got that big. Were some vids on YouTube from cohutta/ rough ridge fire, possibly from at too.
