For rain gear you might try LLBean. They carry a number of items up to 3X, including nice rain gear and hiking clothes.
As for the bag, a shorter mens can be nice and comfortable, or if you like roomy, check out Big Agnes bags.

I went with a semi-rectangular down bag from EMS instead of a mummy to get sufficient shoulder girth. There is a weight penalty (compared to a mummy bag) since there is extra material and insulation, but it’s still better than a rectangular bag.

My husband is a plus size guy, he got this 'Sweetie Pie" for his sleeping bag, its a Pie shaped insert that zips into the sleeping bag to give you ore room, He bought it at REI, but I couldn’t find it there just now. here is a link to a picture of it

I too wanted a larger sleeping bag for room to move. I got a Big Agnes, Mystic 15. It has 73" of shoulder girth and works quite well. A word of caution…use a self inflating or closed cell foam pad for colder weather use. I bought the Big Agnes, Insulated Air Core pad and it is not warm enough below 40 degrees…at least not for me. A Thermarest Prolite 4 seems to do the job.

Thanks jg, I checked out the web site and I’m going to go to my local outfitter to see if they have one I can see. It sounds like it could be a good solution if it is compatable with the too small bag I already have.
Has anyone else have any feedback on the sweetie pie?
