Does anyone know in what towns along the Colorado Trail I can buy yellow heet or denatured alcohol (or where it is definitely not available)? If possible, including the store name? Thanks a lot!

There is a WalMart in Salida that should have it. It’s just as you come into town on the north side of the road.
You could call the post office in Twin Lakes and Jefferson. They are both in general stores.
With the fire restrictions, any stove that is not UL approved with an on off valve is not allowed in most places.

I’m leaving Sunday and have been anticipating finding the yellow HEET at all my town stops…Breckenridge, Buena Vista, and Creede.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong with assuming this on the CT, but where there’s a gas station you can usually find it there.

I just finished my thru hike. I can say that the general store in twin lakes has it nut it is over $3 a bottle. In silverton the best place is the grocery store. I had mine shipped with my food. I did have to buy a bottle in silverton.

It can be shipped USPS with no problems if you do it appropriately.
Here’s the official (read - legal) process: Ship it in the original, unopened container. Wrap the bottle in absorbant material and place in a sealed ziplock bag inside your box. Here’s the most important step: label your box “ORM-D” and “Ground Only.” It can never be shipped by air, so that means it can never be shipped priority mail.
We’ve done this many times. TBe sure to give it a little extra time to arrive.
