Best 2007 journals?

Winter weather is setting in here and I’m starting to seek out medicating journals to read. Any suggestions on some of the best 2007 journals I should consider checking out?

There are lots of good journals for 2007 but I vote for Zero’s Journal. His Journal hasn’t ended yet but might end this weekend. His pictures are poor but text is interesting. Lion King’s journal is also intertaining and the pictures are good in spite of his camera failing frequently.

check out Obie’s SOBO. good pics and good dialogue mixed with wit and humor. not the normal eat noodles and hike journal. IMHO

There have been several good journals for 2007, starting with Hobbit’s, Certain’s and Persistent’s NOBO AT journals. I also liked the boys of the Ant, Slickshoes, and Whatever team, along with several of their hiking friends like Groovasaurus. For SOBO AT journals, I’ve been following NateR’s (Coffee, or Hammock Engineer to those of us who frequent HammockForums.) All good journals with a mix of trail life and good personal, experiential writing.

I agree with Strategic that the Ant, /Slick Shoes and Whatever team’s journal was tops. Photographs were great. I also enjoyed following the Riders of the Storm’s 2007 Journals and Guest Book.

BY far hands down Hydro Heidis PCT07 also Gesh’s is cool. These two have the best pictures too cause they got a lot of Penguins. Also check out mine. Tons of spelling errors for grammar coach. Oh yeah mines under Penguin. I stopped at the Sauffleys cause journals are quite boring to write on trail and are pretty vain. But cool to read pre hiking season. Now I must go ski the white ribbon of death

I didn’t realize until I came back to check that this was a PCT thread and I’d recommended all AT journals: my bad. I have been following a couple of PCT journals too, especially Pace and Hydro Heidi (who’s still updating from this year’s hike.) Both a lot of fun and a very different look at trail life for someone who hasn’t hiked out west since the mid-eighties (and never on the PCT.)

Curious George posted this under “Pacific Crest Trail”, probably to solicite the best PCT journals of 2007!

I recommend Cloudspotter’s - it’s very well written and has great photos. And I’m not just saying that because she is a friend!

I’ll go ahead and ad Rocham’s and Out of Order’s to the pile of suggestions. Though Rocham’s is long, I find he paints an awesome picture of trail life. Plus, it looks as though he may actually be finishing it now. Second, I’d recommend checking out Out of Order’s. Good stuff.

I would have to say that on the PCT one of the best written journals was Cloudspotter’s. I also enjoyed Gesh’s journal b/c it was pretty introspective at times. Other decent journals were OJ’s, Mr. D’s and Erik Yakels. All good journals. Cloudspotter has great pictures also!

My votes go to Gesh, Rocham, and Recline. You’ve got to read the last few of Reclines entries----gets inside his mind as he finishes despite the WA snow! Mr. D and Erik Yakels also good.

A vote for Lion King’s ADT journal. This is virgin territory for me, as I’ve never read an ADT journal before. Lion King’s a good writer. Makes you feel like you’re there. Will definitely buy the video!

I’d check out Teatree’s journal (she actually has several on this site). Great hiker, good writer.

Checked out most of the ones mentioned here, and I’ve got to say that both Gesh’s and Rocham’s are both really good. From what I can tell Rocham is still finishing his up (been seeing his name as updates the last couple days), but his pictures and writing from the Mexico to Cascade Locks are really enjoyable to read. Kind of long entries, but at least this way I have something to read for awhile.

As far as Gesh’s go, you guys were right on. Very entertaining, and generally lighthearted. A yin to Rocham’s yang. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all the suggestions, and thanks to trailjournals for providing these.
